Giving
Our Lady of Peace Parish has proven to be good stewards of its monetary gifts.
Your gifts to our church make a positive difference. You are directly supporting the ministries that change lives and share the love of Christ.
There are many ways to give to the church. The most common is our weekly offertory.
Further, some parishioners elect to make an additional one time significant contribution at the end of the calendar year, which can also be reflected on their parish contribution statement for that year’s taxes.
Unrestricted Gifts:
Our parish ministries and needs are ever-changing. We must direct our funds where the parish needs are most pressing. Unrestricted gifts give your church the liberty in using the funds as they deem fit.
Restricted Gifts:
You have every right to declare your gift to be used for a particular purpose such as education (Parish School of Religion, Parish School, Youth Group, and adult enrichment opportunities); music; capital improvements; etc.
Thank you for inquiring about monetary stewardship. More importantly, thank you for your faithfulness and may God bless you and your family because of what you do and consider.
“For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” -Matthew 6:21
With a little planning, your gifts can make a significant difference well beyond our lifetimes.
A gift to the church through an individual’s will or estate plan can be a meaningful testament to one’s faith, an inspiration to family and friends and a force for life-changing ministry in the world.
A couple common opportunities to consider:
- Tithe your estate. Old traditions call for tithing for the weekly offertory at 10% of your weekly income. Making a 10% gift to the church from your estate can do a lot of good.
- Declare a dollar amount to be left to the church.

- If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call or email Fr. Dennis. We are happy to help.
The Catholic Sharing Appeal supports the work of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston. Each of us has the Christian responsibility of sharing our gifts and blessings with others. After reflecting upon the importance of the indispensable works of charity and outreach funded by the appeal and how you can help, please consider making a pledge. Your pledge will not only allow a greater sacrifice without overburdening your budget, but it will provide funding to the appeal at times when immediate funding to a ministry is essential.
You can make your gift in one of the following ways:
- Pledge (payable over 8 months, using monthly reminder statements)
- Personal Check (payable to Catholic Sharing Appeal)
- Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express)
- Direct Debit (through checking account)
- Gift of Appreciated Securities

What a beautiful tribute to make! Giving to the church in honor or memory of someone or a significant event not only makes the giver feel good, but also can make a significant difference for our parish and our ministries.
Donations can be sent directly to the church; placed in an enveloped marked “memorial contribution” in the weekly offertory; presented to our parish priest after Mass; or brought to our office.

“You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.” – Matthew 22:37-40.

The Mass is a beautiful celebration of Christ’s love for us. What better way to honor someone than to have a Mass offerred in their name.
Mass intentions are traditionally offerred for $10 for a daily Mass and $20 for a weekend Mass.
How do I sign up for a Mass?
- You can fill out a Mass Intentions envelope located in the entrance of the church. It can be mailed back to the church, placed in the offertory basket, or brought to the parish office.
- If you have a certain date you wish your Mass to be said, please set this up with the office.
You may also choose to light a candle as a devotion.
Our votive candles are $3 for each candle. They are located in the sanctuary and allow for personal prayer and reflection.
